Privacy Policy

Whale Igniter is built around local project files. This policy explains what the website, the CLI and optional AI integrations do with data.

The short version The website has no accounts, forms, analytics, advertising or operator-run database. Core CLI features run on your machine. Optional AI features contact the provider you configure.

1. The website

The Whale Igniter website is a static site. We do not operate a backend for it and do not collect, sell or store visitor information.

  • No user accounts or sign-in.
  • No contact, payment or upload forms.
  • No analytics, tracking pixels or advertising cookies.
  • No calls to Whale Igniter APIs or databases.

The theme toggle stores one preference in your browser. That value stays on your device and is not sent to us.

2. GitHub Pages hosting

GitHub hosts this site. GitHub states that it logs a visitor's IP address for security when a GitHub Pages site is visited. GitHub may also process technical request data under its own privacy statement. We do not receive a visitor-level copy of those logs.

3. Core CLI features

Core commands such as ignite, adopt, sync, check, MCP, theme generation and local project analysis run on your machine. Whale Igniter has no product telemetry service. Project files remain in your workspace unless you choose to move or share them.

4. Optional AI features

Some commands can call Anthropic or OpenAI. These features are opt-in and work only after you configure your own provider API key.

  • Whale reads the API key from an environment variable.
  • The key is used only to authenticate the request to the provider you selected.
  • Whale does not write the key to project config, cache files or logs.
  • The generated prompt and selected project context are sent directly to that provider.
  • Response text may be cached locally under .whale/selene/cache. You control and can delete that folder.

Provider processing and retention are governed by the account and settings you use with that provider. Review the Anthropic Privacy Center and OpenAI policies before enabling an AI feature.

5. External links

The site links to npm, GitHub, Anthropic and OpenAI. Those services receive data when you choose to visit them and apply their own terms and privacy policies.

6. Changes and questions

We may update this policy when the website or software changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
